Jeff Conaway Hospitalized In Coma Following Drug Overdose

Actor Jeff Conaway, who appeared in the ’70s box office hits Taxi and Grease, has been hospitalized after falling into a coma following a drug overdose.

The 60-year-old, who played rocker Kenickie in the 1978 movie musical, has famously battled addiction to cocaine, painkillers, and alcohol, and is in critical condition at Encino Hospital Medical Center, his manager Phil Brock told The Los Angeles Times late Wednesday. He was found unconscious in his Los Angeles home on May 11. It was only a few weeks ago that Conaway confided in reporters about the chronic pain he’s struggled with ever since he fell down a staircase and suffered a broken hip, a fractured neck, and a brain hemorrhage in 2010.

Conaway — who also starred in TV’s Babylon 5 — discussed his addiction to drugs and alcohol as part of the cast of VH1′s Celebrity Rehab in 2008. He would become one of Dr. Drew Pinsky’s most agitated patients.
