Friday afternoon is the black hole where news goes to die. Perhaps that’s why JLo and Marc Anthony chose today to announce they’re divorcing after seven years together.
“We have decided to end our marriage,” they told People in a joint statement. “This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”
(Yet another couple that courts media attention and then pulls a Greta Garbo when that attention is directed at a personal matter. Fame has two settings, guys — on and off. It’s not TiVo. You can’t just pause it and pick it back up whenever it’s convenient for you.)
The “American Idol” judge and her soon-to-be-ex have twins born in 2008. She’ll be 42 in a little over a week and this was her third marriage to go down in flames.
