It’s a boy for songbird Jewel and her rodeo star hubby Ty Murray — a former Dancing With The Stars finalist. The pair — who wed in the Bahamas in 2008 — became proud parents on Monday evening with the arrival of their son, Kase Townes Murray.
Kase weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz. when he arrived at 7 PM CST at a hospital in Stephenville, Texas. His mom is ecstatic after a long struggle to conceive.
“Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world,” Jewel, 36, tells PEOPLE. “We are overcome with happiness – it really is as great as everyone told us it would be – better even!”
The host of the Bravo talent show Platinum Hit escaped near disaster in her second trimester; Last March, a five months pregnant Jewel was driving the family Cadillac when the vehicle was hit by a fire truck. She was released from the hospital after tests concluded she and her then-unborn child were unharmed.
