Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, were both arrested at 2:45 AM on March 1, for misdemeanor charges.
Aguilera was arrested for public intoxication. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, that she appeared to be "extremely intoxicated" and was "unable to take care of herself."
Her 25-year-old boyfriend was arrested for DUI. His bail was set at $30,000.
Aguilera's arrest was a consequence of Rutler's arrest.
According to a TMZ source, "If the driver had NOT been arrested for DUI, [Christina] would have never been in trouble."
There have been persistent rumors that Christina, 31, has been drinking excessively and concerned friends have been trying to get her into rehab.
The five time Grammy Award winner flubbed her lines while singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl XLV in Dallas.
Aguilera and Rutler met on the set of the film Burlesque. They have been dating since November 2010.
