Katie Couric “60 Minutes” Correspondent

Is Katie Couric headed to 60 Minutes? Producers of the longrunning, Emmy-winning TV newsmagazine have offered the host of the CBS Evening News job as regular correspondent, network insiders revealed to The New York Post this week.

It’s all apart of CBS’ plan for Katie once she steps down as Evening News anchor after five years in June. Couric became the first woman to headline an evening news format on a major news network when she took over the reins in 2006. She’d later be joined by Diane Sawyer, who now fronts World News Tonight on ABC. As part of the deal, Couric must also agree to serve as host of a daytime talk show, according to The Post report.

Reps for Couric have declined to comment on the rumors.

“Katie’s on vacation this week. Hopefully, the speculation about Katie can take a week off, too,” the journalist’s spokesman replied when quizzed about the story.
